OP: Crisis in Dunundistan IV

9/24/2016

It's been more than three and a half years since we've heard anything from the tiny war torn nation of Dunundistan. Here's a brief recap: Dunundistani government forces attempted to retake the capitol city of Rilarilabad and were beaten back by the rebels while taking severe casualties, though they did manage to get Prime Minister Tweddle evacuated safely. With control of the capitol and having forced the governments armies into surrounding villages and hinterland, the rebels were demanding to be recognized as the legitimate rulers of Dunundistan. Most nations refused, citing their terrorist activities against the civilian population prior to the war, and their current retribution against civilian supporters of the government. Prime Minister Tweddle officially requested a UN task force be sent under US command to assist him in regaining control of the majority of his country. Citing the massacres of civilians and other civil rights violations by the rebel forces in control of most of the nation, as well as their serious destabilizing influence in the region, the US and the UN agreed to the request and a task force was sent. Before they attempted to retake Rilarilabad, the task force had to first clear out one of the major rebel strong points in the Durkdurka mountains east of the capitol. A major confrontation transpired in the wilderness, and the outcome determined the future of Dunundistan. The rebel forces prevailed and established their own government... but once again the central government is nearing collapse as tribal warlords lead another rebellion. Will you fight to maintain the status quo of a 'peaceful' Dunundistan, or to establish a new ruling party at the end of a gun?
